The Circus Princess

Emmerich Kálmán

The Budapest Operetta Theatre's new production, The Circus Princess, merges the finest traditions of the operetta genre with the theater's breathtaking 21st-century stage spectacle.

Fedora Palinska, a young widowed princess, fears that men are only interested in her because of her late husband’s fortune. Determined to shield herself from love, she closes her heart. However, one evening, she visits the St. Petersburg circus, where Mister X, the a brilliant trick rider, performs. Disillusioned with the world, he dedicates himself entirely to the circus, pushing his limits with ever-riskier feats. Can they look into each other's eyes sincerely? Will they find the courage to let go of their fears? And in the end, will they finally remove the masks they wear every day? Emmerich Kálmán's world-renowned grand operetta comes to life in another sweeping production, directed by Zsolt Homonnay. As audiences have come to expect from the Budapest Operetta Theatre, this stunning, multidisciplinary performance captivates with its thoroughly modern visual artistry.

The Circus Princess contains visual effects that may cause discomfort for sensitive viewers. Please be advised that attendance is at your own risk.
